Webstartupday 2010 – Charleroi
April 28th, 2010Charleroi was the epicenter of the belgian web today. Startups presentations, startups Award, panels, networking events of Betagroup and Café Numérique. That was the program of the day. Members of the upcoming webmission were there to defend their startup; demo their tools.
TweetWallPro had various screens broadcasting its new product.
Beebole and Woorank were competing against each other for the Web Startup of the year award. And the 2010 winner, now Web Startup of the year, is Woorank, a brand new website analysis tool.
Beebole, TweetwallPro and Woorank… will all be with us in San Francisco, and will demo at SF NewTech. Watch out, bay area!
About Google I/O
April 24th, 2010Off course, the most important part of a perfect webmission is how the group goes together! If you have a look at what happened in San Francisco or Sevilla last year, and in Madrid a few weeks ago, well, there is nothing to add! Fun, friendship, collaboration. Everything is OK!
The second part of the story, is to have great events! So, let’s talk about Google I/O. Here is how Wikipedia describes I/O:
Google I/O is a web developer-focused conference held annually by Google to discuss web applications using Google and open web technologies. It has been held only twice to date, May 28-29, 2008, and May 27–28, 2009, at Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. Major themes of the 2009 event spanned several Google products and technologies, namely – Android, App Engine, Chrome, Google Web Toolkit, OpenSocial, Google AJAX APIs, and the newly announced Google Wave.
The 2010 version has been announced for May 19 and 20 at the same location.
Google I/O is styled similar to previous Google developer conferences, such as Google Developer Day in May 2007 and Geo Developer Day in May 2006. There are more than 100 technical sessions at Google I/O. At the inaugural conference in 2008, the band Flight of the Conchords performed on the evening of May 28.
Google “IO” stands for “Innovation in the Open”.
Last year, Laurent Eschenauer was able to pitch Storytrl. In may 2010, Beebole (one of our start-ups) will also be present in the sandbox! Let’s hope Yves will be as lucky as Laurent!
