After an impressive WebMission in San Francisco we are going to Singapore end of November 2013 !
Singapore, the top hotspot for startups in eastern Asia!
Singapore is probably the most interesting place to be if you want to start or market your company in Southeast Asia. Ranked in the 20 hottest entrepreunarial spots around the globe in 2013, Singapore has seen it’s reputation grow in this global ranking over the years. What you need to know before going to Asia.
Great place for … (industries)
Everything is better structured. The whole service industry is based in Singapore. It is a small market but certainly a base of operations throughout Asia. Harvard is in the process of settling after INSEAD. Companies and startups benefit of lots of support from local government.
International startups are launching in Singapore right now!
Startups like Ubber or Spotify recently launched in Singapore to bootstrap their Asian market. Fab.com has recently raised $10M from Singtel which is just expanding it’s startup fund by $1.6Bn over the 3 next years for acquisitions. Singapore is definitely presenting itself as an attracting place for foreign startups to come and launch their product and services on the Asian continent.
A 5 days program
The idea of a Webmission is to have a full week program that involves meeting the local startups, understanding how financing works, have a pitching event (to present a least 5 belgian startups to the local crowd) and meet the local belgian community.
– day 1 : Understanding the region + local ecosystem
conference ‘Lean startup and growth hacking’
conference ‘Soft landing: Singapore, a base for startups’
visit of local ecosystem: the Hub, JFDI
– day 2 : Singapore startups visits + belgian meetup
– day 3 : International startups visits
– day 4 : Meet local Investors
SingTel Innovate, Golden Gates Ventures, Hera Capital
– day 5 : Tech scene & meeting public institutions + pitch event night
Official event with the VC companies and a reception with the press
For those who are interested, we suggest to start a pre-webmission with a 2 day conference at Tech In Asia in Jakarta November 21st & 22nd.
